Both are tradeable certificates created under Pennsylvania's AEPS. Solar SRECs satisfy the solar carve-out; Tier II RECs satisfy the non-solar alternative resource requirement that load-serving entities must meet annually.
Eligible facilities — solar PV, waste coal, biomass, qualifying cogeneration, and DSM measures — register in PJM-GATS. Generation creates one REC per MWh, which we aggregate, list, and sell into the AEPS compliance market.
The weighted average PA Tier II AEC price for compliance year 2024–25 was $26.92, with a $41.00 market ceiling — up from $10.86 just a few years ago as AEPS compliance demand has outpaced Tier II supply. AEPS compliance years run June through May, and we track PJM-GATS spot and forward bids weekly.

PA SRECs are Tier I solar-only credits created under the Alternative Energy Portfolio Standards (AEPS). PA Tier II RECs cover non-solar alternative resources — waste coal, demand-side management, large hydro, municipal solid waste, and certain cogeneration — and trade in a separate, smaller market with distinct pricing dynamics.
Tier II pricing has historically ranged from a few dollars to the low-double-digits per MWh, depending on AEPS compliance demand and supply. Solar SRECs trade in a higher band tied to the SACP (Solar Alternative Compliance Payment). We benchmark live PJM-GATS spot and forward bids weekly.
We register eligible generation in PJM-GATS, aggregate small-MWh accounts to clear minimum trade lot sizes, broker directly to electric distribution companies and load-serving entities meeting AEPS obligations, and remit proceeds quarterly with a full audit trail.
